Brief: Redesign the classic packaging for French’s mustard, an American staple condiment.

Design Concept: Because French’s has a well-establish and recognizable brand, it was important to create a design that felt vintage and genuinely “American” – here, aiming for something reminiscent of a 1950s diner style. The classic red color is maintained, but the neon yellow has been traded for a pastel green taken from studying common color palettes from 1950s American restaurant and interior design. The hot dog features a dotted overlay harkening back to the early days of comic books, when graphic artists used the Ben Day overlay process to add color to comic books and created a dotted overlay effect. Subtle, patriotic stars blanket the side panels.
